A native of Kern County, Senator Fuller’s homegrown enthusiasm propelled her to actively work to improve her community, as an educator, public servant, and community volunteer. First elected to the CA Legislature in 2006, Fuller served two terms as an Assemblywoman before beginning her first term in the State Senate.
Jean arrived at the Capitol steps with over 30 years of experience as both an educator in the Central Valley and as Superintendent of the Bakersfield City School District, the largest K-8 school district in the State of California. In 2005, Jean was recognized as the California Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School Administrators.
The first in her family to attend college, Fuller is the proud alumni of Bakersfield College, CSU Fresno, and CSU LA, and completed her PhD at UC Santa Barbara. Her scholarly resume is bolstered by supplemental coursework at USC, Harvard University, and Oxford University. She has been supported in her educational and professional pursuits by her husband of 41 years, farmer and engineer Russell Fuller.
Jean’s legislative priorities include efforts to decrease regulations on business, identify solutions to the state’s water crisis, and expand opportunities in career and technical education. She has been recognized as a leader in education and consistently receives high marks from pro-business organizations like the California Chamber of Commerce and National Federation of Independent Business.
It is my pleasure to introduce Senator Jean Fuller.
